A former lawn-care employee, denied use of his old boss's street sweeper, steals it anyway to do a job for a competitor.
A Marion County lawn-care business owner reported his street sweeper stolen from a shop on Northeast 150th Avenue. Deputies identified the suspect as 29-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Aponte, a former employee who had left the company about six months earlier after a dispute over him taking contracts to start his own business. Aponte had called the day before asking to borrow the street sweeper and was refused. In a post-Miranda interview, he admitted he didn't have permission but needed it for a job in Ocala and planned to return it. He was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle.
