Pretty wild

An Uber driver keeps a stolen rental car running nonstop for three weeks straight to dodge the remote shutoff device after he stopped making payments.

Polk County deputies stopped 27-year-old Elijah Mills, of Maitland, on U.S. 27 in Davenport while he was giving an Uber ride to a couple visiting from the United Kingdom for their upcoming wedding. Deputies said Mills had rented the Chevrolet Equinox, stopped making payments, and then kept the vehicle running nonstop for three weeks to avoid a remote shutoff device the rental company could trigger. Mills acknowledged the company had been calling him daily. He was booked on charges of grand theft motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license.
