Content note

This is a serious federal drug-trafficking case, not a lighthearted incident.

Florida Man indicted for conspiring with inmates to smuggle fentanyl into federal prisons using a drone.

James Key III, 45, of Eustis, was indicted on a federal charge of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl after prosecutors said he conspired with Federal Bureau of Prisons inmates between December 2024 and August 2025 to smuggle fentanyl and contraband cellphones into prisons in California, Florida, and South Carolina. Key and his co-conspirators applied fentanyl to paper, wrapped it in synthetic grass, and delivered it by drone. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted.
