A routine traffic stop for a broken tag light leads Florida troopers to a truck bed full of live iguanas with their feet bound in zip ties.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers pulled over Rendon Casildo-Acdiel, 32, near Winter Lake Road and Thornhill Road in Winter Haven on April 30, 2026, for a missing trailer tag light, then found 13 live iguanas with their feet zip-tied together in the truck bed alongside five coolers of iced tilapia. Casildo-Acdiel told troopers he had driven from Miami for coconuts and then to Polk County for the fish before heading back to North Carolina. He was arrested on a suspended Georgia driver's license and three outstanding warrants, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission took over investigating the iguanas.
