A man wearing a cardboard box over his head smashes display cases at a Miami Gardens phone repair shop and is identified from the surveillance video anyway.

Claude Vincent Griffin, 33, broke into Irepair Tech in Miami Gardens around 4 a.m. on June 3, 2023, wearing a cardboard box over his head as a disguise, shattered the store's glass display cases, and made off with 19 iPhones and about $8,000 in cash. Store owner Jeremias Berganza reviewed the surveillance footage, recognized Griffin's face through gaps in the box, and tracked him down at a nearby liquor store before calling police. Griffin was arrested and charged with grand theft, burglary, criminal mischief, cocaine possession, and resisting an officer without violence.
