A Jupiter man picks up a live alligator off the road, orders a soft drink at a Wendy's drive-thru, and hurls the animal through the window.
Joshua Douglas James, 23, of Jupiter, picked up a live American alligator he found on the side of the road in Loxahatchee on October 11, 2015, placed it in his truck, then drove to a nearby Wendy's, ordered a large soft drink at the drive-thru, and threw the alligator through the window into the kitchen. Investigators identified James months later using a bank card he had used at a nearby gas station and surveillance footage timestamps, and he was arrested in February 2016. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and unlawful possession and transportation of an alligator. Florida Fish and Wildlife officers seized the gator, which was unharmed, and released it into a nearby canal, while a judge set James's bond at $6,000 and ordered him to stay out of every Wendy's in the state.
