A Florida man allegedly hurled a friend's chihuahua off a balcony, leaving the dog with multiple broken bones.

A stranger brought a badly injured 3-year-old chihuahua named Raven to a Fort Myers animal hospital on Sunday, September 8, 2024, saying a friend had thrown the dog off a balcony 'like a football.' Lee County Sheriff's Office detectives worked overnight with help from the county's Real Time Intelligence Center to trace the dog back to her owner and identify Dalton Chad Sousa, 30, as the man accused of throwing her. Raven suffered a broken leg and a broken jaw but was expected to make a full recovery. Sousa was located and arrested the next day and charged with aggravated animal cruelty.
