Two Domino's Pizza managers are accused of torching a rival Papa John's to drum up business for their own store.
Lake City police said Bryan David Sullivan, 22, a general manager at a local Domino's Pizza, and Sean Everett Davidson, 23, set fire to a nearby Papa John's on October 20, 2011, causing roughly $500,000 in damage. Investigators said Sullivan was tired of watching Papa John's delivery cars drive past his store and believed that with the new competitor out of the way, business (and a bonus he stood to split with Davidson) would improve. Police said the pair built a homemade timed ignition device out of a clock, a nine-volt battery, and a golf-ball-sized amount of black powder. Both men were arrested and each charged with one count of arson.
