A routine traffic stop uncovers dozens of stolen turtles, and a foot-long alligator tucked into a passenger's yoga pants.
A Charlotte County deputy pulled over a pickup truck driven by Michael Clemons, 22, after it ran a stop sign near Punta Gorda. A search turned up 41 three-striped turtles stuffed in a backpack; when asked if she had anything else, passenger Ariel Machan-Le Quire, 25, pulled a foot-long alligator out of her yoga pants. Machan-Le Quire pleaded guilty to four charges and was sentenced to probation.
