A dispute over a spilled beer inside a tent leads a man to grab a hatchet and swing it at the person he blamed.
Escambia County deputies responded to a report of an armed disturbance near tents by a La Quinta Inn on North Davis Highway. Deputies said 56-year-old Danny Tharp accused another man of spilling his beer inside Tharp's tent, then grabbed a hatchet and swung it wildly at him, striking him several times. The victim escaped bleeding from his eye and mouth and found deputies nearby. Tharp was arrested and charged with attempted homicide.
