A Palm Beach man buys taco seasoning packets to disguise stealing boxes of Pokemon trading cards at Target self-checkout, netting nearly $40,000 reselling them on eBay.
Keith Wallis, 39, of Palm Beach, allegedly loaded self-checkout carts at Target with boxes of Pokemon trading cards alongside an equal number of 99-cent taco seasoning packets, then scanned and paid only for the seasoning while leaving the cards unscanned. Investigators say he ran the scheme at roughly 75 Target stores across Central and South Florida from July 2025 to February 2026, reselling the cards on eBay for close to $40,000 against Target's reported loss of about $10,000. He was arrested and charged with felony organized retail theft, dealing in stolen property, and money laundering, with Attorney General James Uthmeier saying organized retail theft 'drives up prices for consumers, and that is not a result we are going to tolerate.'
