A Port Charlotte man uses a coworker's stolen credit card to buy beer and a pumpkin at Publix, and deputies seize the carved pumpkin as evidence.

Edward Atwood, 39, was identified from surveillance footage wearing a Chili's hat after a coworker's wallet went missing from the restaurant where they both worked, and deputies say he used her credit card to buy beer and a pumpkin at a nearby Publix. Charlotte County deputies arrested Atwood on Halloween, October 31, 2023, on a charge of unauthorized use of a credit card, and collected the carved pumpkin from his home as evidence. Sheriff Bill Prummell said, 'All jokes aside, it is sad that an individual would do this to anyone, but especially someone with whom they work.'
