Pretty wild
A Port St. Lucie man submits a typo-riddled forged letter claiming he is a secret FDLE agent who cannot be background-checked, all to lease an apartment.
William Dennis Milstead, 64, gave a real estate agency a falsified letter claiming he had worked undercover for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement since 2006 as part of a fictional 'Off Grid Command Unit' that exempted him from a routine rental background check, according to FDLE. Investigators said the letter was riddled with grammar and spelling errors, and Milstead already had 13 prior felony arrests, including two earlier convictions for impersonating a police officer in 2002 and 2016. He was arrested on November 13, 2024, on charges of falsely impersonating a police officer, making a false statement to obtain property, and using a two-way communication device to commit a felony, then released after posting an $11,000 bond.
