A Hollywood man named John Publix is arrested after stealing about $25 worth of groceries from a Publix supermarket while wearing a dress and a mask.

A 26-year-old man identified in police and court records as John Publix walked into a Publix on Polk Street in Hollywood wearing a black and pink dress, a black wrap, and a mask, filled a store bag with bananas, water, Coke Zero, coffee, and fried shrimp totaling $25.27, and walked out without paying. Officers found him a few blocks away after he had ditched the dress and mask, and he was booked on petit theft, resisting without violence, and battery on a law enforcement officer. The arresting officer noted that Publix was 'detained wearing only black tight pants, no shirt and gray socks' and that he 'slipped my hand several times' while being taken into custody.
