A North Fort Myers man rides a child's tricycle through a neighborhood stealing more than a dozen garden gnomes off residents' lawns.
Lee County deputies say John Ramey pedaled a children's tricycle through a North Fort Myers neighborhood on May 19, 2026, and made off with more than a dozen decorative garden gnomes, some of which a homeowner had been collecting for three decades. Ring camera footage of the distinctive tricycle helped detectives track Ramey to a nearby homeless encampment, where he cooperated and led them to the stolen gnomes. He was arrested on June 2, 2026 and charged with petit theft with two or more prior convictions, and all the gnomes were returned to their owner.
