A man leading deputies on a multi-mile chase holds a stolen can of vodka spritzer out the window and offers them a drink.
Highlands County deputies said 39-year-old Richard Christopher Smith stole alcohol and other items from the Spring Lake Market in Sebring, then led deputies on a chase that ended in a parking lot at the Sebring Airport. Bodycam video showed Smith holding a can of Ketel One vodka spritzer out his window as he drove past a deputy, saying, 'I was just going to give you a drink, that's it.' Smith allegedly tried to ram two patrol vehicles before his tires were flattened by spike strips; he then got out smoking a cigarette and was tased. Afterward, he asked deputies, 'You guys had fun, though, right?' He faced charges including aggravated assault on law enforcement, battery on law enforcement, resisting arrest, and DUI.
